five weeks and counting...

Where has the time gone?  I can't believe I'm about to have a baby!
Ahhhhh!
What were we thinking?
Clearly...we weren't!  (that was a joke, mom)
In all seriousness...this might be the most exciting, happiest, terrifying, mystifying, amazing moment in my life.
Every time this little guy kicks, moves, punches and wiggles--which is all the time.  He basically never stops moving.  Ever.  We call him Wild Man these days--I involuntarily smile (inside and out).  I just can't wait to meet him!
And while we make the last of our preparations for our newest addition and get to know him after his arrival, I will be closing up shop for just a bit.
But don't you worry!  I'll be back with some fabulous baubles as soon as I get the hang of things.  I have already started working on a few Fall and Holiday items and I can't wait to share them.  (I'm wearing one of them while I type.  It's gorgeous!)
In the meantime, to celebrate all of these magnificent changes in my life, I have decided to have a sale.  Normally I'm in Europe at this time of year and there are 'Soldi' signs everywhere...(well, that's Italian for sale, so that would only be in Italy but you get the picture.)  Since I won't being seeing any Soldi signs this year, I am making my own:

SOLDI!!!!  SOLDI!!!  SOLDI!!!

From today until September 1st, the following bracelets are $50...

kate
elaine
grace
lucille
olivia

and this necklace is $100...

Yay!

Just email me at asouthernchild@gmail.com for purchasing/product info.  Happy shopping!!!

exciting things...

are happening for the southern child these days.

You may have noticed that things look a little different on the blog this week.  I have been meaning to change it up for a long time, but I could never figure out what to do or what it should look like.  I eventually decided to leave it alone.  I figured when the moment was right, I would know it.  Well the moment was finally right...

This week I opened a jewelry shop!
Yay me!  (I'm not normally one to toot my own horn, but...TOOT!)

And in honor of my jewelry shop, I changed my blog to match.  I am very very excited, and hope you like my little piece of retail web space!  I will be adding new designs to the shop very soon (I have only listed a few so far), so be sure to check back in often.

Jewelry makes great gifts (hint, hint)...

In addition to the shop, I am also creating a website, which will be a place for all of my other design and art work.  It is a work in progress, but hopefully everything will be up and running very soon.  I am a one woman show and web design is definitely not one of my talents, but I am doing my best!

I've always believed that anything worthwhile takes a village, and this phase of my life has been no different.  This would have never happened without my friends and family.  Thanks for all of your love, support and endless words of encouragement over the past year.

Another special thank you to bellaga.com for inviting me to be a part of their fantastic new website.  I am so very excited!!!

Stop by and check everything out (shop a little, perhaps...)  Leave me a note here on the blog and let me know what you think...I welcome any advice and suggestions.  This would have never happened without you!

the girls are back in town...

Meet my new girls!
Inspired by the people, sights, sounds, colors and vibrant memories of  Spain and Morocco and my very recent gypsy days in the South, each bracelet is hand-made from semi-precious stones, crystals, ceramics, vintage pieces, glass, wood...even leather.

from left to right:
row 1: drew, stella, mimi
row 2: joy, parker, kris
row 3: becka, virginia, autumn
row 4: mary, faith, penelope

As usual, each lady comes with a name tag, a brief description and a little pouch for safe keeping...

For detailed descriptions, pricing information and special requests, please contact me at asouthernchild@gmail.com.

I always love feedback so let me know what you think!

more beautiful girls!

Hello!
I'm off to the airport very soon, but I just wanted to introduce you to a few more of the girls before I start my vaca...
Enjoy!

ella

abigail

She has a couple of beads from necklaces I bought at a second hand store this weekend while I was waiting for the lost film...the chunky rose quartz pieces and the mosaic ceramic beads are beautiful and in perfect condition. I guess everything happens for a reason, right?

eva

luanne

marjorie

She used to be a necklace that belongs to my mother but for some reason, it was never quite right. She sent it to me and I reworked it, incorporating a few things from my own supply of beads, et voila!

If you have old things that you would like to remake, send them to me! Jacquelyn is a product of the same idea...it contains a few of my own keepsake items that I incorporated into a bracelet. She was the very first bracelet actually! (which is why she's not for sale...sorry!)

and a little one for me...

minnie
she's cute and fun for site-seeing...and how cool are those gold beads??? hahahaha

(I also made the printed one...she's wrapped in fabric and then shellacked. It took almost as long to make as all of the sparkly ones...)

Even if no one else likes my sparkle beads, I heart them!

It took three days to de-sparkle myself. I felt like Tinkerbell all weekend, leaving a trail of fairy dust wherever I went! It was a worthy cause, however, because now they are perfect and the metallic dust doesn't rub off.

Don't forget to leave a comment! I love hearing from everyone...it's so inspiring!

I'll check in as soon as I can with a pic or two...

hasta luego!
